The extremely rugged coastline, islands and unspoilt nature attracts numerous nautical visitorsto this area. The archipelago is made up of 24 large islands, and as many as 300 small islands and rocks, three nature reserves – Telašćica, Sjeverni Velebit and Vrana Lake as well as 5 national parks – Paklenica, Plitvice Lakes, Kornati Islands, Krka Waterfalls and Velebit putting Zadar and its surroundings at the very top of touristic offers in Croatia.
Forty years ago Alfred Hitchcock declared the sunset in Zadar as the most beautiful in the world. Numerous tourists would agree with his opinion, who have enjoyed the sight of the sea embracing the setting sun and the sky, together with the unique sound of the world-known Sea Organ and the magic light of the installation called Greeting to the Sun.
